Cassius Marcellus “Muhammad Ali” Jr
“Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee!” was his motto, Muhammad Ali, the greatest boxer ever and maybe the greatest athlete in the world. To understand Muhammad Ali we must examine his career, family and his accomplishments. Muhammad Ali is a professional boxer who paved the way for African American athletes and set a new president in boxing history. The purpose of this paper is to inform people about the World’s Best Heavyweight Boxer in the world.
Throughout Muhammad Ali’s professional boxing career he had 56 wins and 5 losses. 37 of his wins were by knockout. One of his most important fights was vs. Archie Moore in 1962 for the heavyweight title. He won that fight and became champion. He told the newspaper this, “Archie Bee living off the fat of the land, I’m here to give him his pension plan, When you come to the fight, Don’t block the door, Cause you’ll all go back home after round 4!” This quote means that Muhammad Ali would tell the crowd and opponent in what round he will win, and sometimes it will become true. This shows the importance of what made him the great big role model who everyone wanted to be like at that time period.
Secondly, Let’s examine the importance of his family. Muhammad Ali had a total of 4 wives. He has 7 daughters and 2 sons. His first wife, Sonji Roi, a cocktail waitress and Ali first got married on August 14,1964. They got divorced on January 10, 1966 because of Ali’s religion (Muslim), which made them end their marriage. His second wife, Belinda Boyd, a 17 year old, got married to Ali when Ali was just 25 years old. Belinda Boyd changed her name to Khalilah Ali. They had 4 children, Matyum, Jamillah, Libian and Muhammad Ali Jr. After their divorce he married actress and model Veronica Porche. They had 2 daughters, Hana and Laila. They were later divorced on Nov. 19,1986. Ali then married an old friend from 1964 in Louisville. She was Yolanda Ali. They adopted 1 son, Asaad Amin. Ali had 2 other daughters from external relationships. This shows how many relationships he had in his life.
Muhammad Ali has a lot of accomplishments in his life that made lots of history. Here are his accomplishments:
Golden Gloves Middleweight Champion= 1960
Olympic Light Heavyweight Champion= 1960
Heavyweight Champion of the World= 1967,1978,1980
